How a livestream launched this top podcast’s paid membership
The Dateable Podcast is one of the top 10 podcasts on modern dating, sex and relationships. The podcast has been mentioned on CNN, Ask Me and KQED. During the COVID-19 pandemic the co-hosts decided to start a Facebook group to support their community with navigating the challenges of dating in this “new normal.”
The Facebook grew quickly and members started having genuine conversations about everything from social distance dating to ‘zumping’ to the latest dating reality show. Weekly virtual happy hours and podcast discussions cultivated an engaged supportive community.
Gemlike helped Dateable strategize on how a livestream could launch a paid membership from their Facebook group community. The paid membership would offer additional content, live virtual events and more intimacy with a smaller group.
The livestream was broadcast with Streamyard to the Facebook group of nearly 1,000 members. The two hosts shared the screen with entertaining banter, a dating term game and brought on community members as guests. The livestream then segued into the announcement of their paid membership, The Sounding Board.
The livestream was an exciting strategy to engage their community and announce their paid membership. This has resulted in recurring revenue and an intimate community of customers they can serve and leverage for content inspiration.
